About the event
Did you know the average lifetime of a piece of clothing is only 2 .2 years, and three in five items of clothing will be discarded within one year. British citizens alone discard a million tonnes of textiles every year! We're on a mission to bring our worn out and damaged clothes back into use at our Preloved Studio.
Join us for our morning workshop on Basic Mending with a Sewing Machine. This session will focus on Patch Mending, where you will learn to mend torn pockets, burst seams and holes. Bring along any items of clothing in need of these types of repair and explore how to fix your clothes using a sewing machine.
Workshop skill level: Improver (you already have basic sewing machine skills under your belt.)
Meet your workshop facilitator: Fiona Graham
Fiona has many years’ experience in the clothing and home textiles industry and has a lifelong love of sewing and making things. She worked in manufacturing, and in product development for major high street retailers. She has a wide knowledge of all garment types and sewing techniques to share!
Important Information for Workshop Attendees:
This event is for adults only (18+). Sadly, we do not have the facilities to accommodate children during the sessions.
