About the event
In Part 1 of this exciting 2-part workshop, RE-RUNN founder, Sakina, will give an introduction to her process of redesigning leisurewear and show examples of her circular fashion collection.
In Part 1, you will learn how to approach an upcycled design process using preloved clothing items, and how to dismantle the garments ready for re-construction the following week in Part 2. At the end of this workshop you will be encouraged to take your garment sections home to complete any preparation and do any dying, bleaching or pattern printing before the next session.
Check out what will be covered in Part 2 here.
Workshop skill level: Improver (you already have basic sewing machine skills under your belt.)
Meet your workshop facilitator: Sakina O'Neill
Sakina created RE-RUNN after many years as Head of Design working in the fashion industry, supplying major High Street brands and retailers. While travelling the world, both designing and overseeing production, Sakina witnessed first-hand the excessive wastefulness of the industry and felt compelled to play some part in the solutions to this unsustainable model. She sought ways to extend the life of existing garments, that otherwise end up as landfill, to reduce fashion’s negative environmental impact.
